I'm suppose to go back to my hometown on the last week of May 2013 to see my parents and tell them about our plans now that I am pregnant. My husband is so busy setting up FnB outlets here in Singapore so he can't accompany me.
I did'nt knew that there were airline regulations with regards to traveling when you're pregnant. Luckily, i had a chat with a friend that mentioned the issue to me. Yes! its an issue because i'm planning to have a longer stay in the Philippines but Im already on my 27th week of pregnancy. Some airlines will only accept until 3o weeks some allows at 32. Some requires a medical certificate from your OB stating that you are fit to travel. So when i flew to Philippines, i did the following.
When you fly:
-Check the airline's policy about air travel during pregnancy. Guidelines for pregnant women might vary by carrier and destination.
-For the most space and comfort, consider requesting an aisle seat.(we pee lots and lots when pregnant)
-Buckle up. During the trip, fasten the lap belt under your abdomen.
-If possible, take occasional walks down the aisle. If you must remain seated, flex and extend your ankles often.
-Drink plenty of fluids. Low humidity in the cabin can lead to dehydration.
-bring snacks, books or ipod
Its quite uncomfortable to travel when pregnant as you need to move constantly to promote blood circulation. I always move my body sideways in a rocking motion and stretch my legs and neck. Its a 4 hour flight and did'nt really manage to sleep.
initially, I planned on staying for a month on my parent's place before I give birth, but i know I can't because of the airline policy. I took Tiger Airways and they allow 32 weeks.
Funny because I ended up staying for 5 days, been crying all day and night for my husband. I'm too emotional to be too far from him.
