Craving for something to eat for teatime when I stumble upon a Filipino cooking blog on the internet. I saw Steamed Cake (puto)
and leche flan (like creme caramel) which were 2 of my favorites. Drooling... i browsed more photos and recipes although i know how to do these simple sweets.
Here's my version of Steamed Cake
1 1/2 cup of self raising flour
3/4 cup of white sugar
1 tsp fine salt
2 1/2 cups of fresh milk (or depends on the consitency)
1 tsp full of baking powder
3 tblsp melted butter
1 egg
Combine all the dry ingredients first and give it a short whisk. Add the remaining ing and beat the mixture. I want it to be a little bit ticker than a pancake like consistency. Transfer it on your moldinf tray and stwam for 30-40 mins. I put sliced cheddar cheese on top at 30 mins into cooking and it melted on the side. Before I took it out from the steamer, I scoop out melted cheese on the side and pour it on top. :) Yum
